Course Description:
Grace: In Ephesians 2:8&9 Paul states that our salvation is not brought about by anything we can do, rather it is a gift of God's grace, accepted by faith in Jesus Christ. But sometimes we fall into the trap of trying to earn God's love by what we do or by what we don't do. Steve McVey's book, Grace Walk, encourages us to step away from a performance based, or legalistic type of faith and live in the freedom that is ours when we embrace the love of God that is ours through Jesus Christ.
Spiritual Practices: We will then turn to the study of spiritual practices that have been developed through
the centuries of Christendom. These practices are tools that can assist us to grow in our faith and enable us to "know Jesus, our God and Lord, better and better." (2 Peter 1:2) As we know Jesus better, we will "experience the love of Christ...[so we]...will be filled with the fullness of life and power that comes from God." (Ephesians 3: ) Richard Foster, in "Celebration of Discipline", introduces us to these spiritual practices and as we learn to use
them we will discover which ones will be most useful in helping us grow spiritually.
